To celebrate the Coronation of Their Majesties King Charles III and Queen Camilla, the Tallow Chandlers’ Company held two special dinners for members and their guests on Thursday 18th and Tuesday 23rd May.
The Hall was brightly adorned with Union Jacks and magnificent flowers (arranged by Mistress Tallow Chandler Jane Cazalet), and a special musical programme was performed by the London Youth Chamber Choir. Company guests included representatives from the King’s Body Guard of the Yeomen of the Guard as well as His Majesty's Body Guard of the Honourable Corps of Gentlemen at Arms; we were pleased to be able to show our appreciation for their duty at the Coronation.
A Coronation Booklet was produced for the occasion, chronicling the Tallow Chandlers’ relationship with coronations dating from the Company’s incorporation in the 15th century right up to our contributions to that of Charles III, which included the donation of candles to Westminster Abbey for the coronation ceremony and contributions to the embroidered screen used for the King’s anointing.
Overall, the Dinners were an immense success and thoroughly enjoyed by all who attended.
