The Master was delighted to welcome 37 Tallow Chandlers’ Award Winners, and accompanying staff from their organisations*, to the Education Awards Luncheon held at the Hall on 11th May. It was a wonderful opportunity for Company members to meet the outstanding young people to whom we make awards, bursaries and scholarships, and indeed for the award winners to connect with each other. The rain held off until the moment the Beadle announced lunch, but the smiles in the Courtyard during the reception had more than made up for the moody skies.
Our guest speaker, Mr Ben Russell, new Principal of The Halley Academy in Greenwich, spoke of how proud the award winners should be of their achievements, particularly against the backdrop of the difficulties students and teaching staff are currently facing in the education sector.
We look forward to welcoming many of our award winners back to the Hall in September for the Past Award Winners’ Supper.
